"No Dating Friends" Rule

I’ve liked my best guy friend for years and I know he had a crush on me too at one point. I got up the nerve to admit to him that I have feelings for him, but even through he seemed flattered he told me he had a “no dating friends” rule. I became friends with him because I have feelings for him. How do I get him to look past his rule?

Answer #1

Tell him you’re not his friend anymore.

Answer #2

Dating friends is a tricky business, if it doesn’t work out there is no going back to the way it was. If he sees you with someone else, he may become interested for real, such is the nature of the breed, unavailability is exciting. But if he said he was flattered, he is most likely telling you that he is not interested. If a man is interested enough in a woman, being a friend will not stop him if he is brave enough to make a move. I have done so myself (and the relationship did not turn out as I would have liked). We tried to be friends again afterwards but it didn;t work. So be careful and good luck.
