Why don't my new Nikon lenses fit into my Nikon D70?

Nikon D70 lens trouble I recently bought 2 new lenses for my Nikon D70. I already had a 70-300mm lens on it, and the 2 I bought are 60-180mm and 24-70mm. My original lens is a 62mm (diameter) and these 2 are 52mm (diameter). I couldn’t fit the new lenses into my camera (and I know I was doing it right because I’ve changed lenses often with some of a friends that I was borrowing). The side of the new lenses read: 1:4-5.6 and my old one: 1:4-5.6 G What does this ‘G’ mean, and could someone please tell me what Nikon bodies would fit these lenses.

I hate when this happens, i always bring my camera with me to the store now (: but heres the explanation:

The G means the lens is Gelded G lenses are lenses which have had their aperture Rings removed to save costs. This is a classic example of taking away features while making customers think they are getting something new. G eliminates many features with older cameras.

I think your Nikon D70 is a FM-3a (2001s i think) and if this is the case… write this down.. and take the lens back along with the body so u can find the right lens!

Hoped i helped! And Id love to see some of your images (:

Cheers! Jake chupick
