what is a good product to desinfect the piercing?

okay so I got my belly botton pierced and I clean it with hydrogen peroxide and its red and swollen from the middle what is a good product to desinfect the piercing?

Answer #1

I have a dermal anchor on the back of my neck that I think may be getting infected, what can I do to stop it aside from H2Ocean??

Answer #2

You’re not supposed to use hydrogen peroxide.

Use Saline Solution (Like for contacts) and antibacterial soap Use saline OFTEN and make sure its the kind you can use in the eyes. not just on the contact and wash it with the soap three times a day

Also take a plastic cup and fill it with warm water. put salt in it. Place the cup on around your bellyring and let the water sit on it for 5 to 10 minutes. Do this once or twice a day

Keep doing that for about two months (maybe not even that long) till it heals =]

Answer #3

NOTE: Don’t play with it till it heals because the germs on you hands will get it infected. Wash your hands BEFORE cleaning it

Answer #4

Haha good one twilightmom =] I forgot about the neosporin!

And yeah peroxide shouldn’t be used on piercings <3

I have five and eveytime they tell me NOT to use it ^^

Answer #5

As a nurse, we always treated pins in bones and things similar to your piecing with peroxide. But, I’ve learned from others on this site that have piercings that peroxide should never be used. Clean it with a Q-tip and antibacterial soap and water and put neosporin on it or something with triple antibiotic cream, a good 3-4 times a day. . Just clean it really well with the Q-tip wet and with soap and dry as well as possible and apply the ointment–leave open to air. If it doesn’t start to get better in a day or 2 you need to have a Dr. look at it. You many need an antibiotic for the infection.

Answer #6

No hydrogen peroxide or neosporin! What you need to do is a sea salt soak as stated above along with the saline solution. Do not move or play with the jewlery. You do not need to move it around to clean it. Also use a warm towel on it up to 3 times a day to speed up healing.
