How to act silly in front of the school?

Okay let me explain… First I will tell you that my Theater class is having a pep-rally because our play made it to State! Well, during the pep-rally my Theater teacher wants us to (in front of the whole school) introduce ourselves, and have our own “walk.” And I am pretty shy when it comes to acting silly, especially in front of the school! So I am already nervous and that is only next thursday, that we will be doing this! I dont know what to do! Please help me out!

I don’t understand the ‘need’ to have a special walk in order to go up and introduce yourself - I could understand if you were in a character mode, but not as you’re seen daily - seems to me it might lend itself to teasing (ie: the way you strutted, the way you swung your hips, etc) - I would be uncomfortable also - if the true purpose is to ‘introduce the class members’, you don’t have to put on entry/exit show…my opinion.

That’s how I felt, but I cant just not do it, or in that case people would still tease you in a way, that you couldnt do it like everyone else kinda thing. But I guess I will just walk normally and be myself, I mean its not like everyone is going to remember it for the rest of their life. Last week when we actually performed the play in front of the school (which was hard) I guess there was a broken block that I have to go walk on and start saying my line… well like I said it was a bit broken from some senior guy that was jumping on them supposedly and it cracked a bit. Well I had to go step on it, and when I did I was thinking: “Oh great, they gave me the pratically broken block to stand on.” But I hade to stand on it or it wouldnt make sense, so I did and I wobbled and it made a little cracking noise… THAT was embarassing. And I guess we dont have the worst of it… last year the football team had to do their own little dance in front of the school… you could tell they didnt feel comfortable. I’ll just be myself, I guess. But I agree with you amblessed.
