How to housebreak my Chihuahua?

how can I get to train him when he poops

Answer #1

Take the chihuahua outside to pee and poop a lot. When it goes potty or poop outside praise it like what it did was the most wonderful thing in the entire world. With my little boy I always said “That’s a good boy, oh you are such a wonderful little boy, I love you” when I brought him back inside I would give him a treat. When he went in the house, and I caught him, I would say “no, (dogs name), very bad” and I would give him the cold sholder, he would try to sit in my lap and I would move (I would do this for about 5 minutes). If you don’t catch your little one doing it, you really can’t scold him or her because they generally have no clue what they did wrong. I would just suggest taking your sweet little one out right when you wake up, a few times throughout the day, and definatly right before you go to sleep, stay out there and watch your chihuahua until he or she does it’s business, and once he or she does reward it. Make it feel special. Once it feels special it will want more praise and will start doing his or her business outside just to be rewarded.

Actually, if you caught him up AS he was pooping and set him in the right place…saying only “NO!!!” – or without saying anything…your training would be more effective…catching them IN THE ACT is far more instructive, than waiting till he’s done…

The idea is to “train” them…and not have to “re-train” them…Be one step ahead of them…get them out BEFORE they use the carpet…you don’t have to wait for them to make signs either…just take them out…say “PEE PEE”…over and over until they go…and when they do go, give them a ton or praise, pets, and “atta boys”…in a short while they will go on command…

It has been so hard for me to train my JAck Russel to poop where he is suppost to. It takes a lot of patience and consistency. What I have done is let him finish poop whereever he does it- and correct him by saying “no!- bad boy!” and taking him to the right place and say “poop and pee here”. My puppy is only 8 months and I have had him for more than 4 months and he sometimes does it in the right spot and sometimes doesnt. oo and another thing, try to give him a treat when he does do it in the right place.

well you could try to let him use the bathroom before you train him so that he will not have to take a bathroom break in the middle of something important hope I helped.:) if you have any more questions then you can funmail me but you don’t have to.
