half the reason you get spots is not just pubity but the dirt in your skin, face masks do get rid of the dirt so that should reduce the amount of spots.

That depends on the kind of mud used and the kind of spots you are trying to remove. A birth marks will probably not be affected by anything while a sun damage spot gets dramatically reduced by muds with the perfect blend of natural salts and minerals like: copper, selenium,sulfer, bromine, and about thirty more.
