Moving out of state with girlfriend.
I’m a 21 year old female living in a gay relationship with my girlfriend. My parents do not know that I’m in a relationship with this girl.. they think she is my roommate. Or at least to my knowledge. They know I’m gay and I’m not really sure what they think of it. Problem is.. I don’t know how to tell them I want to move out of state possibly at the end of next month. I live only 10 minutes away from them and when I move I will be almost 6 hours away from them. I will be moving in with my girlfriend’s parents until we can save up enough money to move to another state. How do I tell my parents that I want to move out of state.. first things first.. that my “roommate” is actually my girlfriend?
Ok first of all just sit them down and tell them you want to have a serious discussion, have your roommate there if it’ll help, plus it’ll be better to have someome beside you supporting you. If they know that you’re gay, they probably suspected that there was something more between you and your roomate, so just coming out and telling them would be simple. The moving out of state with your girlfriend part will be hard on them because they’re your parents of course they’ll take it hard. Just point out major facts: -You’re a legal adult, you have to make your own decisons. -You’re 21 this is the time you should be going out on your own to live your own life. Make sure to assure them that you’ll visit and they can visit and it’s not like you’ll never see them again. When you’re at that age parents know that their “kid” is going to eventually to be away from them to live their own lives. So even though they may not want you to go, they’ll understand that it’s something you want to do. Oh and make sure they like your girlfriend .aka. roommate , because if they don’t it’ll be an even harder arguement because they might not mind the going away part, but won’t like the fact that you’re going off with her. Hope I help =)
