Moving out at 17

As of now, I am only 16. I want to move out when I turn 17 which is in 6 months. Theres not any abuse or neglection at home, I just want to be independent and on my own. Is it possible for me to leave the house at 17 without my parents consent? From what I understand, the parent has to know where you are living. I plan to stay in school and continue working. If you have any knowledge on this please help me out.

Answer #1

Lol, I believe you have to be 18, if you move out on your own I think the police will have to return you to your parents unless you have a parent’s permission.

Answer #2

no you can’t because your not atleast 19 and the only way is if your mom and pops knows everything from a-z and it will be hard because there are not a lot of apartments that will take people your age Goodluck

Answer #3

okay so from what I’ve learned from a friend who moved out a 17 in tx. you have to stay in school, have your name on a bill, and stay employed. simple as that.

Answer #4

In Texas, it is illegal for you to move out, but police won’t come after you for running away because you wouldn’t get to court until you were over the legal age. The hardest part, as stated above, would be finding a place to live. You must be 18 to sign a legal binding contract, such as a lease. Maybe you can find someone to rent an efficiency at a Budget Suites. Then if you change your mind and want to go back home to mom and dad, you won’t break a lease and ruin your rental history so early in life.

Answer #5

18 years is the legal age of moving out but you can still ask for their permission…

Answer #6

Running away is still running away… do it too many times and they can lock you up…

Answer #7

Answer #8

Answer #9

Answer #10
