What do you think of a message like this for a friend?

I sent an email in another website to my friend we add each other, and i wrote something like this, hello how are you i hope you are ok and like my grandfather and your aunt were cousins and they were good friends also, i wanna offer my friendship and i hope you have a nice weekend. What do you think its a good message for her or not. I dont have any idea tell me please thank you.So i just want to have a good relationship with her because we are distant cousins, we didnt know before so i dont know what to do,what do you suggest me?

I think you are being mature anf polite! I wouldnt change anything at all in that little note. If you want to though you can say something like “I’m looking forward to hearing back from you!” Or anything that adds the im interested effect on her.

I think the message is polite, but it seemed kind of confusing at the part where you mentioned your grandfather and her aunt. I probably would have worded it differently. Would have said something similar to the following:

“Hi there. My name is Fito, and I’m one of your distant cousins. My grandfather, Billy, and your Aunt Heather were cousins and very good friends. The reason I’m contacting you is because I, too, would really like to be your friend and get to know you. If you’d like to get to know me too, please send me a message back. I really hope to hear from you!

Take care, Fito.”
