All changes in a cat’s life are trauma to them (I don’t know why, but it’s the way it is)…even moving furniture upsets them. Do as wulff says…your moving in is a change in this cat’s life…and upset cats quit using litter boxes.

Don’t ask you girlfried to give up her best friend…it’s not a good way to start a live in relationship…and you may find yourself outside.

Go out and buy wet food or whiskeys temptation cat snacks. You need to blind trust with the cat. That what my husband did and my cat now loves him. The cat is really scared and think you are going to hurt him/her. That his why the cat is peeing and pooping every where. You need to show the cat your not going to hurt it. That is where the cat snacks and wet good come in. It might take 6 months, But it will be wroth it.

When the cat does trust you. You will see why she love the cat.
