So I wanna work on a glass sword for fun but I need to know how. Im a teenager and there for dont have a lot of supplies to do this. Just simple stuff (beer bottles, ect.) so where should I start?
Well to work with glass you need to melt it and shape it which is a huge process. Most people don't learn how to work with glass until they are in college and studying art.
If you are just breaking glass shards and gluing them or shaping them into a sword figure it could be very dangerous and you could be at risk for getting a serious cut or injury so, I wouldn't suggest it.
Glass melts at 2,600 degrees Fahrenheit. This is why only professionals and those training in glass art usually get to do this. Its not something you can do at home you would need a lamp work torch and a ton of heavy equipment that you need serious training to use.
You really don't sound like you know what you are getting yourself into very much so I wouldn't suggest trying anything. Glass melting is extremely dangerous if you don't know what you are doing.
would a forge work? I have one of those at home. My brother got an aprenticeship with a blacksmith, and got a forge put in in our house in the country.
well thats not common sense... xD yeah I ment melting it but I don't know what kind of stuff I'll need
