why is MAC lip glasses called lip "glasses"?

like why is it glass and not gloss?

Because they are shiny and have a glassy effect I suppose. Also, everything is called lip gloss, its nice to have a product name that stands out a bit.

they want to stand out, and be remembered. like if people are always wondering about why they named it glass, then at least there thinking about the product and brand.
