Have conversations with him, say things that will allow him to give you more then a one word answer, so the conversation can flow easily. For example: In stead of saying “Did you have a good weekend?” you could say “What all did you do on the weekend?” … the second one allows more then a “yes” or “no” type answer.
Join the same activities as him. Bring up a conversation.
