Well it depends I guess, some guys dont like talking to there ex’s after they brake up. for a lot of guys its a strict rule. Even if you want to be friends with him still it most likley wont happen unless you just walk up to him and talk to him about it, stay calm beacuse some words are harsh and they do hurt.

Maybe hes just trying to move on? If he liked/likes you that much he might just be trying to gather his feelings and thoughts due to recent events. Best shot is just talking to him, find out what hes thinking and act, dont stand in the background and let it affect you.

After a while though, if hes still ignoring you, you might have to give up, sometimes thats the only thing you can do.
