Why did my laptop not start yesterday (please read)?

so yesterday mornin i tried opening my laptop and it got to point where i have to sign my user password but all i could see there was my mouse cursor and complete darkness. nothing worked couldn’t even open the task manager. restarted the laptop couple of times but still the same prob. then came back frm work and did a system restore and now it seems to be all good. any one have any idea why my laptop did this and will it happen again?

Well, i can’t really tell you what went wrong, but i can tell you that laptops do crazy things sometimes. You may want to take it to a computer shop and ask them if it needs work.

Something in you OS got corrupted. Either a file was missing or damaged. It can be from either rough handling that cased the hard drive to not write the file correctly or an sudden shut off w/o doing the shutdown routine. I would run a check disk on it and make sure there are not errors on the hard drive. If you on windows (XP specifically) go to My Computer - Right click on your hard drive (Local Disc C most likely) go to Properties. Under tools click Check Now under Error-Checking and check both Automatically Fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors. If will most likely tell you that it needs to do it on the next power up. Restart your laptop and let it do its thing. Not exactly sure how you do it on Win Vista or 7 but it should be similar
