What language do bilingual people think in?

Answer #1

I dont know if i’m considered “bilingual”. I speak some spanish and german, but not fluently. English is the language I think in. Everybody’s first language is probably what they think in. This is such an interesting question. I could never imagine thinking everything in german or spanish. Hmmm.

Answer #6

My first language was Russian, and I’m still fluent in it now, but I most definitely think in English.

Answer #7

When i’m mad or emotional I think in Italian but just in general usually english. Or broken english.

Answer #8

There is abstract thought that is in no language.

The only foreign language I have ever studied is French and only toward the end did I find myself thinking in French instead of translating to and from English. I imagine that people fluent in multiple languages would be able to think in any of them.
