What kinds of weapons did Babylonian people use?

The Romans were the best when it came to non weapon technological advancements. But the Babylonians were the most advanced as far as weapons went. They were the first to make iron used in armor, ornate daggers, swords and axes and most weapons of that time period. They also invented the aqueduct as well. Unfortunately for them, Persia, obliterated them off the map.. So much for their weapon advancements..

The swords of that period were short, broad and bulky. Nothing like the long swords of the middle ages and definitely nowhere near a floret or rapier.

Why? Because they were unable to make steel. The weapons were bronze or iron. Steel came later. You can not craft an elegant, swift blade out of those materials. It would break. The swords were heavy and people hardly ever used them to parry. They blocked their opponents attacks with the shield. Spear or arrow tips are easy to make and do not require good metal. You can even make them from deer antlers, though most weapons of war were metal and the antler-tips were used fro hunting weapons, mostly.

They tried to conquer the southern regions of Mesopotamia, with an eye especially on controlling Babylonia, but their revolts were put down. They were much more successful attacking and conquering the people to the east and west.
