Why isn't it telling me when i get points?

How are some users so high on the leaderboard?

what do i need to do to get more points,because i have made 2 questions and i didnt get any point, if anybody knows how this ...

Does it depend on the subject or does everyone get the same amount of points for every How To they do?

I mean why are the points we get if someone likes our answer different?
