Will hamsters get stressed and die from other pets?

Well I really wanted to pet a hamster but I have 5 cats and 2 dogs and a few fish and turtles. my father say I can’t pet a hamster because I already had dogs and cats. If a hamster see or hear a cat or dog they will got stress and die. Is it true? because I want a hamster so badly!

I had dogs and cats and they didnt get “stressed” about it. But they are hard to keep in their cages! I once had two of them and they both would dissapear over night! The next day I would find them somewhere in the house. Like once I was sleeping and it was on my bed! I was like AHH! Lol. They are kinda mean towards eachother too. if you get more than one.

well if u have 5 cats 2 dogs some fish and turtles u sound spoiled! no im just kidding but maybe if u be good and get good grades then maybe u will get one in reward!!! and bout the stress thing no idea! lol!

Actually, it is possible. small prey animals like hamsters and guinea pigs who live with cats can indeed become so stressed that they develop health issues like anorexia and wet tail and can die. If you have hamsters and cats in the same house, it is best to keep them separated. For example, keep the hamster cage in your bedroom and do not allow the cats to come into the room. And for heaven’s sake, don’t think that they should play together! By the way, you should also know that hamsters don’t usually live longer than 3 years or so.
