Sort of. What happened to the weight lifter is called ‘rectal prolapse’. It’s where the rectum falls part way out of the anus. Imagine taking your foot out of your sock, and the sock turns inside out as you pull out your foot. It’s partly due to the loss of muscle tone of the anus, combined with abdominal over pressure (straining).
