is it infected?

Hello! I just got my lip piercing done 2 days ago. in the pamflit, it talked about swelling, tenderness, bruesing, and after a few days, a whiteish/yellowish liquid it stated not puss.

anyways, today I have been noticing a somewhat burning sensation, hard to explain.

so, naturally I treated it with sea-salt (swished in the mouch, making the rod of the stud expose a bit, to get behind the flat peice, then dipped a q-tip in it and swabbed around the ball of the stud, exposing that and of the rod aswell)

about 10 minuts later, I pushed on the end inside my mouch just barly, (old habbit,) and I got this stiging sensation, only got it when I moved the peircing. I went to the bathroom to se what the hell was going on. I pushed on it exposing behind the ball of the stud, and saw the liquid. seemed to be a bit soon I think, but I used paper towel and wiped it of, along with some verry light blood. the bad stinging stopped, but I still get a burning feeling with redness around the piercing on the outside.

am I usung the sea-salt too much? or is it really infected??

much apreciation!

Oh, I’m guessing you have bad images swirling in your head about “What if my lip IS infected? What would it look like? Would it be a giant hole of gross pus-filled mess??”

Well, I can answer that too, because 6 years ago, the first piercing I ever had (an eyebrow piercing), turned out to be infected because a badly trained piercer pierced me too deep and too wide. So it got infected in a week or two because the piercing bar just didnt sit well with my eyebrow’s anatomy. It was pretty much leaking yellowish liquid the whole time, and it got crusty bits surrounding the holes of the piercing. Yummy, huh?

So, my new (current and awesome) piercer said it had to be removed. He helped me remove it (better let a professional do it and give you good after-care advice), and a couple days after that it just looks like two tiny scabby dots on my eyebrow. I was told to rinse it in sea salt for a week and rub Vitamin E oil to help reduce scarring. I followed the instructions, and have healed 100% in a month or so. My eyebrow doesnt look like it’s been pierced before, but if you squint REALLY hard, you can maybe make out the tiniest ‘pothole’, like the ones you get after having chicken pox.

I woke up today, and I noticed the rashy burn feeling again. whilst in the shower, I let some regular h2o get on ot, and it seemed to relieve it. am I using the sea-salt too much that its drying out the skin?

Oh and the flat side inside mou mouth, seemes to be going deeper into my lip ever so slowly, is this natural?

thanks, that settles my stomach… im verry paranoid of sh!t going bad like this. lol, its childish, I know, but when it comes to a freaking whole in my lip, I get easily worried :p took me an hour to sum up the strength to get it!

more opinions would be just as good!

Keep using the sea salt, it really helps in the healing process. There was probably a tiny bubble of pus next to your piercing in your lip that didn’t burst until after you cleaned your piercing. Shouldn’t be something to worry about.
