How do you put music from computer onto your ipod?

Answer #1

First of all, you need iTunes to get the music from your computer to your iPod. Ok? Access the internet and go to http://www.apple.com/itunes/overview/ or just type in ‘Itunes.com’ into your address bar. When you get to the page, scroll down until you see an icon that says ‘iTunes 7 download now’. Click on that icon to download itunes. Once iTunes has been downloaded, set it up on to your computer the way you would normally set up a program. When you are finished you should have an iTunes and QuickTime player shortcut on your desktop. Once you open iTunes and agree to the terms and conditions it is ready for use. Ok, you do know how to download songs right? Assuming that you dont… Download the song you want and put it into a music folder on you computer. When you click on the particular song it may open with Windows Media Player. You dont want that. You want iTunes so instead just right-click the particular song and click on the “Open With” option. Click open with iTunes and the song should open on iTunes. (You dont have to do this with every song because iTunes will request for it to be your default player which means that for every song that you have it will be played with iTunes instead of any other media player on your computer. It is the default player for my computer :-P) Ok, say you dont want to download any songs from the net. No problem. Im pretty sure that you have CD’s at home wich you wouldnt mind having on you iPod right? Well you can just put the CD into the disc drive and the list of tracks will show up in iTunes. Itunes will then ask if you would like to import that CD into the iTunes library, click yes. Itunes will begin importing the tracks into the library. Now, Sometimes iTunes will have the tracks listed “Track 1, Track 2, Track 3” so on and so forth. I’m pretty sure you want your tracks to have a name, no? Dont worry, its simple. Simply right click the track and click on the “Get Info” option. Once there, there will be six (6) tabs. Those being: Summary, Info, Sorting, Options, Lyrics and Artwork. Click on the second tab which is “Info” and type in the song title, artist, album artist, ect. You do not have to fill in all of the information but the most important info is the title and artist, ok? The fifth tab is lyrics. If you want lyrics then either enter them manually or look up the lyrics on the net and copy+paste the lyrics. Artwork is the sixth tab and if you want artwork then just click browse and any pics that you have on your computer will suffice for that section. Again it is completely optional. Your choice. Now, getting your music into the iPod… First connect the iPod to the computer ising the USB cord and port if it is not already there. Wait a minute or so and the statistics of your iPod will show up. It will be called (your name). It will be under the section labled “Devices” under the name of your iPod will be “Music”. If you click on it you will see that there is nothing there. Now look further up the column on the left and you will see another section labled “Library” and under that you will see “Music” click on that and you are back to the list of music that you put in iTunes. Click on the name of a song and drag it to the section that says (your name) iPod and when it is highlighted (in blue, with a + sign where your mouse arrow is) you can let go and the music will be in your iPod. Simple, any? Oh, let’s not forget, you can drag more than one song at one time by either pressing CTRL+A which will highlight all the songs in the library or you can drag only selected songs by clicking them whilst holding the CTRL button. Fiddle around and play with iTunes until you get the hang of it, okie dokie? I really hope this information helped. If you have any more questions about iTunes feel free to ask me.
