ipod nano not working

I just got a ipod nano and im trying to put music on it for the first time but itunes is not letting me put songs on it. .. so what do I need to do to get to sync sngs please help..im lost and im excited to get this going.

ok what is the error?

have you got the most recient copy of I-tunes?
have you put the usb cable in?
any errors so far?

fallow the proscess in itunes using the sync wizard
