IPOD issues

my ipod just went blank on me…the screen is lighted…but nothing on it…and it wont let me do anything…cant even turn it off.

anyone know what to do please?

press the center button and the menu button at the top at the same time for 8 seconds and it will restart and you will c the apple icon pop up and it shudd startworkin again if it doesnt hit me up and I find out
