Is it illegal to fire a gun?

I want to buy a gun because I believe in the 2nd amendment of the U.S. but I was wondering is it legal to fire at Something (not someone).

Its illegal to shoot in certain areas, in public, near schools, etc. You can go out to open areas such as woods and shoot as long as you know the owner and there are no houses in the area, but most people go to a gun range and shoot and targets. It depends onn the area you live in. I live out in the country with alot of wooded areas but when i want to go shoot my gun i still go to a shooting range because its safer. Even in wooded areas where people arent supposed to be, you never know if someones in there or where your bullet is going. Its also illegal to shoot into the air. You should really take a gun safety class if you plan on owning a firearm, they teach you all of this.

Answer #2

Well when I lived in the country, I would go out shooting all the time, but I would not fire off a gun in the city.

Answer #3

There are laws against discharging firearms within the city limits in many areas. Naturally this wouldn’t apply to shooting ranges. There are also regulations for using high power rifles like 30-30 or 30-06 near populated areas because these bullets can go a long way. Deer hunters in these areas must use shotgun slugs.

Answer #4

If I’m going to shoot my 30-06 usually go to my friends house and shoot into a hill side. That way I know the bullet can’t go any further than that.
