How can I count correctly while playing piano?

I cant get my counting right on piano. I can keep a good rhythm going but I can’t get how long just one count lasts.

Answer #1

hey, hooch .. it’s called a METRONOME .. look it up. there’s all kinds and prices. but they all work the same: [METRO - measure NOME - regulator 0 what it does is: you set the number at how many beats per minute, etc, then it just goes TIC - TOC - TIC - TOC as fast or slow as you want, as you play the song, and keep the perfect beat by it. cool.

Answer #2

I would have to go with what missing_the_fall but instead of tapping your finger tap your foot.

Answer #3

it depends on the song. Just follow one speed continuously unless the score say slow down or go faster. Say one, two, three, one, two three or one, two, three, four, one, two, three, four.

Answer #4

to keep a beat i think of the song first and then i tap my finger up and down and as soon as i get the hang of it i play!

Answer #5

If you’re having a lot of trouble with it and you can’t find/keep the rhythm, you might try a metronome. You can set then to pretty much any tempo you want, and I find that they’re (usually) pretty reliable.
