I can't think of a name for my main character!

I’m writing a story and I’m having trouble naming one of the main characters. She’s 15 years old, white, with dark, curly hair and green eyes. She thinks a lot, and is interested in philosophy. In her band, she plays the drums (no drummer jokes, please) trumpet and sings lead on the songs she writes. She isn’t religious and she’s a vegetarian. Her last name is O’Shea. I’d like an original name, something not too boring, but definately not anything outlandish. I originaly named her Samantha (Sam for short) but I found that didn’t really suit her. Right now I’m considering Jasmine, but I’m not sure… If you need more information about the character just say so. Thakyou!

I knew a female Michael once. And a female John, Alex, Terry. I think you need to open your mind to a few more possibilities and not be so closed up in that box. Come out of the cave. It’s nice out here, I promise.

In other news: please don’t ask people for their opinions and then put them down when they offer it. It paints you in a very negative shade.

Answer #8

Well the name Meloni immediately pops into my head (did I spell that right? lol) or Ericca…

When Im writing and trying to think of names for my characters, it helps to keep their personalities in mind also. If you have a shy character it would beunbeleiveable to name the character something off the wall if your trying to portray a shy, reserved person. If you have a character who is a wild, hard partying, hell-bent person you can get away with more unusual names. how about Chloe? or Sparrow? (or name your female character what your stripper name would be!!) Dixie Blackwell?!

Firstly, you do know michael is a boy’s name, don’t you, ravia? And second, I did consider Lilly, and the more I think about it, the better it gets. It’s strong, but pretty at the same time. Thanks stephanief987.

I just had an idea for you, the french for green is Vert, so how about Verity. Not that common a name, the name sounds similar to describing her eyes, and the name isnt too bold. Hope I’ve helped, let me know :)

Answer #15

Carrie O’Shea??? Charlotte O’shea (Charlie for short)???

I think Jasmine’s cool, you could call her Jazz for short, Jazz O’Shea??
