How to trade pokemon from emerald to platnium?

I want to trade pokemon from emerald to platnium How can I do it with only my ds

You can’t ‘trade’ with just one ds. but, you can plug in your emerald at the bottom, and go to th safari park-like thing, and you can catch pokemon from emerald to your platinum version. You’ll have to either get a walk-through or look on the internet with better info on how to do it. I haven’t played it in a while and can’t really explain right.
