Having your dog spayed is the BEST thing for her. She will live longer, be happier and healthier. Your father is correct. He is doing what is best for the dog.

Females that are not neutered (spayed) have a high risk of developing pyometra. This can happen at any age, whether she has bred or not, and whether it is her 1st or 10th heat (although it becomes more common as the dog gets older). The main risk period for a female is for eight weeks after her peak standing heat (or estrus cycle) has ended.

Female that have been spayed are not going to develop this. Every dog I have had has been neutered and they bounce right back after the very easy surgery.

You love your dog, right? So you need to encourage your dad and let him do what is best for your dog. How could you live with yourself if she develops ovarian cancer, uterine cancer, mammary cancer or pyometra as a result of you not wanting her to have a simple procedure.

and to aneta…to mate an animal just to get money is selfish. There are MILLIONS of animals killed each year because of irresponsible pet owners that do not neuter their pets.

Thousands of animals are spayed and neutered every day. I’ve watched over dozens during my work at the local animal shelter, when I lived in Miami. It’s extremely rare that animals die during the operation. I’ve only seen it once, and it was due to a poor reaction to the anesthetic (and it was an 11-year-old cat).

Let’s go over the reasons it’s a GREAT idea to get your puppy neutered:

  1. It completely eliminates the risk of testicular cancer (which your “furry baby” could get if NOT neutered)

  2. It will stop your puppy from wanting to wander to mate – without being neutered, it’s your “furry baby”‘s natural instinct to wander / run away to mate. I bet you don’t want that?

  3. It will prevent your dog from fathering an unwanted litter of puppies. I bet you couldn’t afford to keep them all, or even half the litter. Between 2 and 3 million dogs and cats are put to death in shelters every year, across the US alone, because there aren’t enough homes for them.

I’d say the reasons 1 and 2 alone are great reasons. You don’t want your dog to get testicular cancer in the future, and you SURELY don’t want him to run away. Please do the operation, your Dad knows what’s best for your dog.

Okay, Daddy’s little girl, am I right? Me too. So, work the eyes, and go, “Daddy, please don’t.. I don’t want her to have an operation… Not yet, she’s too little” After a while, he’ll forget all about itt.(: ♥Alley.

GOOD FOR YOU! and for her! You will have more happy years with your dog because you are doing what is best for her. Way to go!

Answer #5

Answer #6

if its your dog dont let him it depends if your an adult or not if your not its his choice iff you are its his choice

Answer #7

yes get her nuetered. I have 2 chi’s and just like you was scared to death off putting my little babies under. It went fine just as the vet had assured me. But let me tell you, a girl I work with has a female dog that just had 15 tumors removed due to not being neutered. And the doc couldnt even get them all. Very sad. So think about it hard.

Answer #8

nothinq has EVER gone wrong in a operation of a dog getting neutered. . but tell him that one day you can make a lot of money if she mates anohter dog and has puppies

Answer #9

Listen to editor. It’s a minor discomfort for the animal that will allow it to live a much happier life, and it eliminates the very real possibility that your unneutered animal will create a lot of unwanted offspring.

This is one of those unpleasant responsibilities that comes with taking responsibility for an animal, so do your best to be adult and mature about it.

Answer #10

Your dad is thinking better than you are. Spays and neutering are done every day, by every Vet…the chances of something going wrong are minimal…Once done, your 5 lb baby won’t be going into heat every 6 months for 3 weeks (a pain in the butt), getting accidently pregnant, getting breast cancer or pyrometria…you’ll be lengthing her life with you…
