How to Remove Fabric Decal?

You know when you’re at the store and see all these Teeny Colourful Designs on T-shirts with exploding Patterns??

I recently bought a really nice shirt and it happens to have an annoying heat pressed-on Golden patch that tacks on the front. I want it OFF. I tried to peel it off but it isn’t easy! What should I do to easily peel it off or wear it down? Should I wash it (without turning inside out) or anything else without damaging or putting holes in the shirt?
