How much the shoplifting's fine at Fry's Electronic in usually is ?

My younger brother got caught of stealing 2 screen protectors (10 bucks each) at Fry’s Electronic in San Jose . He was nice and listen to the security when he got caught . Later the police came and gave him a ticket so he has to go get fingerprint at the Police Station at least 3 weeks before he go to court on September. As the police said , he has to pay a fine for that btw. Right now , he ‘s 18 , still goes to college and hasn’t get a job yet. Anyone know how much usually for this case’s fine or any experience , please share. Thanks

It depends…if its a misdeamenor, the fine will be around $300 to $500. If he can get it reduced to an infraction, the fine will be around $100. Also, there will be TWO fines - one to the court that I’ve described for the criminal conviction, and one for the civil case that will be paid directly to Fry’s lawyers. Expect a letter or phone call from them in about a month. I’m assuming his ticket is for petit larceny, which is a misdemeanor. If at all possible, it is SO important to hire a lawyer. Yes, they are expensive, but they know what they are doing, they know the DA and they are your best bet to getting the charge reduced, if not dropped.
