How much am I supposed to get paid??

Well im 18 and its kinda dumb but I just have my first job, I don’t know how much it pays and well I forgot to go get ma pay check wich they just paid me for 3 days… By the way I work at a grocery store, but what do they mean by minimum?? Am I gonna get paid by minimum or how much is it?? Lol I don’t know notin help??

Minimum wage is 7.21$ per hour not 7.25$… After they take out taxes(which they do before they give you your check) youll be look at closer to 6$ “take-home”… but if you make less than X amount of money this year then when tax season comes around youll get all the taxes you paid back in one check from the government. Working at a grocery store(unless youre the general manager) youll definitely be making under the required amount to have your taxes withheld and be getting a “tax return.”

This from the US Department of Labor… ‘Covered nonexempt workers are entitled to a minimum wage of not less than $7.25 per hour effective July 24, 2009. Overtime pay at a rate not less than one and one-half times the regular rate of pay is required after 40 hours of work in a workweek.’ This is the federal law. It applies to all states.

A place can pay you more, but they cannot pay you less (except for exempt occupations - primarily agricultural and restaurants, including fast food places.) Of course there are taxes and other deductions that will come out before you see your check. It should all be listed on a stub that you are supposed to get with your paycheck.

Check how much minimum wage is in your area case its different in different places and then multiply it by the hours you worked. I doubt they’ll try to rip you off or anything though.

well you should be paid $8 an hour that is what the minimum wage is
