How many years does a child psychologist have to go to school?

I want to be a psychologist and I want to know what I need to do and how long it will take :)

It depends where you live. I can only answer this for the U.S.

You first get a bachelors degree. - 4 years. This can be in anything really.

Then… You can get a masters (2 years) in mental health counseling or marriage and family counseling (2 years before you get licensed) You can get a doctorate in clinical psychology or counseling psychology or a doctor of psychology. With that you can research, teach, counsel, and/or assess (5 years + 1 year internship). + a few years to get licensed You can get a medical degree (4 years) + 4 years residency and specialize in psychiatry. With that you can do research, teach, counsel and/or prescribe medication.

You’re looking at a minimum of 6 years just to become a counselor. A minimum of 10 years to become a psychologist.

well actually you need a doctors degree, I take pshycology in high school and if you want to be a pshyciatrist then you definatly need a doctorate degree, maybe even some medical training since they tend to percribe medicines for people with psyhcological problems.
