What a pelvic exam is and the details of it
Does anyone know from expeiriance what a pelvic exam is and the details of it and how long it takes and stuff like that?
A nurse will show you to your room. You have a chance to talk about any problems or ask question. Nurse leaves. Undress from the waist down and use this 3ft x 3ft (guessing) napkin as a blanket until your dr. comes in. The dr. will put your feet in the stirrups, and have you move your torso to the end of the bed. During the exam, he or she will insert a speculum (google it), take a few swabs of your cervix, and see if you have any infections. Then he or she will remove the speculum and you are done. My dr. only takes about 30 seconds. He talks me through what he is about to do. Hope that was what you were looking for.
I’ve never had one, but I would imagine it is similar.

Basically it’s a test for infections, etc. in the female reproductive system. Pretty simple. nothing to worry about. =)
