How do you stop period pain?

How do you stop painful periods? It ruined my birthday yesterday as I was in so much pain. Today I was off school cus it was so sore.

I’ve been told before that you can go on the pill and that makes periods lighter and less painful. Anyone know if this is true? If not then do you know any other way of stopping the pain?

Or is there anyway of stopping your periods like perminantely..cus they are so very painful.

know how you feel.. I have like 2 days off school each month cause nothing helps reduce pain. I’ve try like panidol and alll types of prescribed pills but they dont do anything.. and I have to wait till im 16 to go on the pill, and im only 14.. so I’ve got heaps more to put up with. =[

hope everything works out with you.

awww… I can relate… cramps suck a55!! but there isn’t a way to make them go away permenantly!! - and don’t use birth control pills… cause eventhough they make your periods lighter… they can cause issues to your body and health!! I use to take advil, then switched to midol (since it’s targeted for menstratunal pain) but after talking to my health consultant… she says that those pills don’t do good to your liver!! - she told me that the reason why I feel so weak, have bad cramp and side effects (headaches and throwing up) when I have my period, is because I lack magnesium in my body!! so she prescribed me magnesium pills!! - and they work as a charm =) I advise seeing your doctor and telling him/her about you horrible cramps!!

other was to reduce the pain are:

  • a warm bath
  • using a heating pad or hot towel and placing it on your lower back
  • not eating cold stuff on your period

Aleve is made from the same stuff as naproxyn but you can buy it over the counter instead of needing a prescription. It does help me though.

I used to have the same problem, and my friend at the time gave me this stuff called ‘neproxin’ and it works very well, my cramps are terrible and those pills makes the pain go away in 15 min.s you might want to check with your doctor though and make sure you won’t have an allergic reaction to it o anything

Answer #6

I heard excersie is really good but I would ge a coke or a dr pepper put it in the microwave to heat up and drink it…

Answer #7

Yes hormonal birth control tends to make them lighter and less painful. There’s the pill, the patch or the shot…

There’s nothing to stop them permanently (trust me, menopause has its own issues), but there’s a pill you can take so you only have them 4 times a year.

As for dealing with period pain, if otc pain pills dont work, you may want to get a prescription pain killer. Other ways is try taking a bath, heat pad, hot water bottle, they say exercise…

You need to talk to your doctor about it…
