how do you get scrunchy hair with braids?

I want to braid my hair when I get out of the shower to make it scrunchy in the morning. what are some good techniques? like do you put one french braid or a bunch of little ones?

when my hair was longer I use to do 2 braids on each side hanging down and I did the braids when my hair was still soaking wet. keep them in most of the day and night when you take it out your hair should be like really krimpy.
