How do you care for snails?

My Biology teacher let us (the class) take home snails if we wanted to. I grabbed two. What do they need? I have a tank and right now they’re just in it without dirt or water or anything and one carrot. Please help! Lol. Oh and how do you know if it’s dead? And how do you make them come out of their shells? (My lil bro wants to see them)

Whatever you do DO NOT put salt on the snails! Lol. I guess you could put some twigs and grass and leaves in there. Basically make the inside of the tank look like your back yard lol. and keeping it moist or wet might be good. Why in the world is there a carrot in their!!??? LOL!! I wouldn’t suggest trying to get them out of their shells, just let them come out on their own terms. Good luck! Dont kill them lol.
