How do I apply foundation so it covers my skin tone?

So I love , love & love beauty & style but just today I put on my foundation and I set it with a powder when I got to school and looked in the mirror it looked at though it had fell off from my face , which then showed my actual skin tone with my foundation blobbed everywhere it looked horrible and gave me low self esteem : ( . How can I apply foundation and powder so it actaully stays the whole day without falling off. Or becoming less efective ?

. I’ve had this prob lots of times. usually on me its caused by my dry skin so the flakes show up after I put it makeup on . scrub your face well to get off any dead skin than use a oil free lotion before applying foundation. I bought a cheep brand of bare minerals at wall-mart and that stuff is awesome no more problems looks so natural and covers every thing ..no more foundation for me. I would def. recommended it 100%

foundation will inevitably wear off during /aftre the day to to heat/temperature/sweat, etc but it should come off right aftre you put it on first wash your face so you have a clean base to work with then apply the foundation evenly with a brush and then the powder evenly with a brush if it still comes off in clumps perhaps try a new foundation
