Who knows if someone can text 911?

you can because they made this new thing and its not actually 911 its some number like a number that begins with 4 and if you text it .it goes to the police and they trac you and do all the stuff that you texted and YEaa. .!!! =D

You could call and just not say anything. The phone would be traced and then people would come to help. I’m not sure about texting.

The reason texting 911 isn’t really feasible is simple. Who, in a life or death situation, would have the TIME to text their emergency, location, etc?

The simple thing to do in the situation you posed (only have a minute and can’t speak) is easy : call 911, don’t say anything and leave the cell on with the call connected. They can trace your location and send help, even with silence on the line.

No - you cannot. Since 911 is an emergency phone service, text messages have no effect. If you ever get into an emergency situation where you cannot talk, you can call 911 from a landline (home telephone) and they can trace the address and send help (at least in the United States and Canada.) The dispatcher will know where you are calling from because of a system called “E 911,” which means your address is known to the dispatcher right away, just by you calling 911.
