how can I unlock a gateway comp. that was givin to me?

I got a gateway givin to me and when I turn it on it says password. How can I unlock this and enter my own passcode? I want to use this as an extra computer for my biz.

If you have windows XP. You can restart your computer and tap F8 over and over while it’s booting. You will see a selective startup screen select safe mode. Then choose administrator as the account to load or type administrator and leave the password blank to log on. Click ok to the warning. Go to start and click “run,” type “Control Userpasswords2” then press enter a window will open, click the check box that says “ Users must enter a username and password to use this computer” so that the box is NOT checked.
