How can I ask this guy out?

There this guy at work we kind of got to know each other I started to really like him and he always smiles at me but to me he always seem nervous when around me and when talkin to me I dont know if he likes me back. My friend knows him and she gave him my number he couldnt stop smilin but the problem is he dont really use his phone soo I only get to c him at work if we get the same shift as me. I was thinkin on asking him out but I dont know how to as I ever ask someone out before it always been the guy and as im really shy. where should I ask him out to? and what the best way to bring it in in a converstion?
