Harrassing credit phone calls

I am being called every 30 minutes by a computer from Americredit and I am called every day by a collector. One of these calls is to my home in the evening and one to my jobe during the day. I keep telling them when I will be making my payment and they still keep calling. What can I do, it is driving me nuts.

Answer #1

I use to be a collector and you can write them and tell them to cease the calls you dont have to give them another number or anything like that. For everyone making the comments to just pay your bills sometimes things can happen can keep you from paying your bills. If it came down to shelter and food for your family or paying a credit card which would you choose.

Answer #2

Tell them to take you off their calling list, if they refuse, ask for a manager and tell the manager you wish to be taken off their calling list. I unfortunately used to be one of those annoying calling people. Make sure you be nice about it, or they will call you back just to piss you off.

Answer #3

Where I live if you tell them to not call work then they have to stop calling there. If you have given a promise to pay then they are not allowed to call until after that date as passed. Also they are only allowed to leave one message on an answering machine or on voicemail. They cannot call after 9 pm or on Sunday unless Sunday is a normal business day for them. Every state is different and I’m really not sure who you could call to find out what is legal in your state.

I used to do collections and that’s why I know these laws.

Answer #4

okay thats what happens when you don’t pay your bills!!! these people want their money. If someone owed you money I’m sure you would be calling them also. Well what I think you should do, when they call you can explain your situation to them and ask to set up a payment plan. Most companies (if they are reputable) will work with you maybe paying $50 a month of whatever until it is paid off. By you avoiding them, the situation will only get worse and they may take you to court (which will make your fees even higher:: lawyer, court costs, etc.) so I say call and set up a payment plan you can afford ASAP! Good luck

To “Whitaba” I always tried to pay my bills. However during the last two years it has been hard for me. I have a chonic illness and when I have to take off work, I am not paid. I have been hospitalized for my illness. On top of this both my sons were laid off work. I have grandchildren and I try to help out with food and clothes. I am not telling you this to get a :whoa is me, but just live my life for a few minutes.
