Why is it so hard to obtain perfect pitch?

Most music teachers I’ve meet and known don’t have perfect pitch, and they have been teaching for years and playing their instrument even longer. I’ve been playing the cello since the 4th grade and I’m still no where near perfect pitch. Why is it so hard?

Perfect Pitch is something you are born with it. It means that any time, anywhere, when you hear one note, you can tell what that note is. It’s not always a good thing. A lot of people with perfect pitch are really distracted by ambient music.

Musicians just have to have “perfect relative pitch,” which means that once you hear a C, you can hum any other note. This comes with practice. Maybe you already have that? If so, it’s all you need :) If not, you probably have it to some degree but the more you listen, the more you will able to figure it out.
