Does hair dye make your hair weak?

Is it true that dyeing your hair makes it break more?

Answer #1

Some say so - but it depends how often you dye your hair. Dyeing it too often can definitely do some damage but if you pace yourself than you don’t have much to worry about as long as you’re keeping your hair healthy (regular trims, conditioning, etc.)

Answer #2

It is true for African American hair, I would suggest always allow a professional stylist color and apply and type of chemical to your hair to avoid breakage.

Dye causes dryness to your hair. The hair has to be conditioned regularly. When dyeing your hair no other type of chemical process should be done for at least two weeks so that you do not shock your hair’s Ph balance and cause fryed or damaged hair.
