What's your guys' opinions on online relationships?

Answer #1

Weird and proberbly not who you think your talking to,it would be so easy to fake a person, family, life and everything like pics and sad storys to real you in, just look at the troll who came here recently saying she was prggers and stuff…Why ,as well?…Why would any normal person need an online relationship? disabled or someone restricted maybe? a prisoner?…I cannot see any good coming from such a way or knowing someone, defo as you can NEVER be sure who you are talking to and there real intentions. The most conning of predaters would be the best at it and be who ever they want you to believe they are.

Answer #2

They can’t really completely fake who they are when you cam chat with them every night.. I agree to all the top part about faking stuff and reeling people in with stories but those kinds of people are easy to spot when you are always on guard for them. And I donno, maybe you just really start liking someone that you met online or you don’t know anyone in person that you like. Can we get past the security risks. I am already very aware of at least most of them.

Answer #3

As long as you Skype with the person and talk on the phone, but strictly online? It will never accurately match the real person once you meet them. Not only are you falling in love with a creation of how your imagination made that person to be, but also many people online modify who they really are to a degree, to make it more acceptable to others.

Answer #4

I do not think they work in general with a few exceptions. Putting aside the immense trust one must have for their partner, talking to someone online is just so different from talking to a person face to face and spending quality time together. The depth to which you get to know each other is just different. you simply cannot know a person as well as if you were with the person. One example, when you’re with a person, you learn little habits of theirs, ones that annoy you, ones that you find cute. I think they can work if the couple do get to meet at some point, or perhaps once in a while, but too long just online… well eventually they will drift apart. Even if they were to be busy with their own lives for a few weeks, that can easily cause a big gap in this relationship purely because it is online and long distance.

Answer #5

Doesn’t everyone everywhere always modify themselves to be more accepted by others?

Answer #6

Doesn’t everyone everywhere always modify themselves to be more accepted by others?

Answer #8

Answer #9

Answer #10

Sorry bout double reply >,<

Answer #11

Awww Lily. We feel what we feel afterall! And you do get to see some, but definitely not as much as being with the person. Really, though, the habits was just an example of some of the things that might be lacking. Even with my boyfriend >< when I do not get to see him and am only able to cam or phone him, it feels entirely different than being with him, and having been with him in person so much, cam or phone simply doesn’t suffice and makes me mad sometimes. But anyways, it’s very much different online than in person. It doesn’t necessarily mean it won’t work, but I do think that eventually you will have to meet them because that sort of distance just doesn’t work for a real or serious relationship. I do know people whose spouses started off as a distance/online relationship ending in marriage, but like I said, after a while, they met in person, at the very least once in a few weeks til they moved in together.

Answer #12

Yes. I would surly want to meet him as soon as I can but that just might not happen for a couple years :/ I donno but I’m sure it will all be okay. I just wanted to see more in depth what kind of problems might be in my future. What makes it the worst for me is that my parents want me to stay completely single till I’m done with college and everything . So I can’t tell them or even think about telling them cause they would force it to end.

Answer #13

And I tell my parents everything so D:

Answer #14

I definitely understand that part, with the parents. My parents are so old fashioned about every aspect of relationships. Well just take it day by day. You never know :) just don’t think about that part for now, just focus on the ‘now’. When the time comes that you might be able to meet, then worry about that.

Answer #15

Okay. >,< thank you

Answer #16

uhhhh i think they suck even though im in one… ha theres always that chance when you meet that person that you might not feel the same about them.. n its hard not seeing the person your with and its just hard because who really knows how things will be in person.. i think its just a bad idea to get in an online relationship and i wish i never did,,, but im in one n i really do care for him n love him so its hard to just give up..specially when you feel like you may never find a person like that again,,,

Answer #17

Online? They never work out and can cause problems. It’s best to stick with a real life person :P

Answer #18

Eh, I think it depends on the people. I personally wouldn’t be in one. I need someone to hold and drag around. My boyfriend goes everywhere with me lol

Answer #19

XD I never go anywhere and my parents control everywhere that I do go.

Answer #20

Yes, but only in person you can tell if they are telling the truth and online only if they use video. I know that for me, I come across better online and communicate better with people than I do in person.

Answer #21

Okay back I was not finished typing, so online dating can be dangerous sometimes, the person can fake who they are even though they cam every or text you, once they get past the trust part then they will try to say “hey lets meet some where” that’s where the danger begins, past years before online dating grew very creepy, some girls got killed, raped, kidnapped, and kidnapped chopped up no clue where they sold the body parts like the heart, maybe they gave it to cannibalism’s the list goes on and on. It’s best if you find a real live person rather then do online dating, or some traditions the parents chooses the girl or boy for dating and to get married,

Answer #22

Psychology fact: Distance doesn’t necessarily ruin a relationship. You don’t have to see someone everyday to be in love. They do work but like most of answers said that there must be a meeting point time to time.until you finish college it will need patience from both of you.best of luck for you :)
