I am in Japan right now and have been so for 3 weeks, the only rule that has affected me is that the drinking age is 20 and the same goes for tattoos. I really wanted to have a tattoo made here, simply because I suck at getting myself souvinears. Long story short, just be nice and don’t do anything you wouldn’t do at home. I’ve had no trouble in whatsoever and they’re very polite.

There’s one thing though, never ever stick your chopstiks directly into the rice, it’s a death threat and something they do at funerals. Also, don’t pass on food from your chopsticks and to another person’s chopstiks, again it’s something they do at funerals.

As long as you remember these few things, I don’t think there’ll be any problems… But you’re welcome to ask me if you have anymore questions all in all about Japan.

Don’t get advice about laws here. Go to a website that you are sure about accuracy. A government website.
