Glamour Models

There are so many lads magazines with large breasted women parading around in next to nothing flashing off there bits. I was just wondering what youre opinions are on Glamour models. Do you think its harmless fun or derogatory towards women?

Also the people that have build there carear on such things as Pamela Anderson. Do you think these women should be looked up to as role models?

Just wondering on peoples views

Answer #1

No, they shouldn’t be looked on as role models. It’s a parents job to keep their children away from bad influences, and surround them with good influences and positive role models.

If a twelve year old girl dresses like a slut and doesn’t think her math homework is important, it’s not Pam Anderson’s fault, it’s her parents’ faults.

I agree with what your saying emma_kift about it being hard to shy children away from infulences when they are so readily available in the media.

But I also agree with what underwaterophelia said- that you can try your hardest and I do agree it is mainly a parents respnisibility to make sure children get good role models and a good start on life. If my child decided to be a porn star or stripper ect. I admit I would feel I have failed her.

Although I think what emma said about glamour models being photoshopped is a little of mark. Take a look at the cover of any lads mags and you will see the women are quite “volumtuous” ( well in my opinion they are still skinny but by todays standards they are curvy). I can gurantee that womens mags photoshop photoshoots of female celebrities A LOT more than glamour model shoots. The reason being- men prefer real women but women have such more high standards for their peers.

underwaterophelia - surely it’s not the parents fault, what about films like high school musical, magazines, television. The media have a lot to answer for. Parents can’t protect their child from everything? They try their best.

I dont think glamour models should be looked up to. In magazines all the skinny, ‘gorgeous’ women are plastered in make up and crazily photo shopped. The media really does have a lot to answer for. It’s sad to hear about how many young girls hate their bodies due to people believing that size 0 is normal, and is what should be accepted.

I definately dont think gurls should be intimidated by the chicks on these magazines…cause tbh when theyr like proper skinny it gets 2 a point wher it luks like theyr skinnier than the guy and thats just weird.
