Can someone give me a rough summary of the story behind Romeo and Juliet?

Answer #1

here is a “rough” summary: boy sneaks into a ball, they fall in love, he sees her at night and asks her to marry him, they run away to get married and do the nasty, he gets banned from the village for killing someone from a rival gang, juliet pretends to die so she can run away by drinking this potion that slows heart rate, the maid discovers her and orders a funeral service, romeos messanger sees the funeral and tells romeo, romeo comes rushing back and see’s her buried in a tomb (tombs are above ground so she didnt sufficate when she was burried) he kills himself by stabbing himself, she wakes up and sees him dead, she stabs herself too, the two families relaize the feud was dumb so they became civil. the end.

Answer #2

Boy meets girl. Boy and girl both know that their parents won’t let them get involved. Neither boy nor girl care, and they arrange to be married in secret. Meanwhile, the cousin of the girl gets in a fight with the boy’s best friend and kills him; the boy then kills the girl’s cousin in a fit of rage, and as a result is banished from the city. The girl is distraught and seeks to fake her own death so that she can escape home to be with her love. However, the boy is not told of this, and when he returns to town he believes the girl to be dead. Anguished, he poisons himself, only to discover (too late) that his love is not really dead. The girl stabs herself. check out SparkNotes; http://funadvice.com/r/14oicngsupu

Answer #3

Romeos family doesnt like Juliet’s but Romeo and Juliet fell in love with each other at first sight. They try to meet with each other in secret, they fall in love, and have intercourse. Romeo gets banished. A plan is later created where Juliet would take a potion that makes her appear dead. There was a miscommunication with the plan, and Romeo comes to take Juliet away with him but then sees she is dead [when she really is not] and takes his life because he saw his life no longer worth living for. When Juliet awoke, she took her own life as well. and i suppose they lived happily ever after?

Answer #4

How about you disregard these “summaries” and just read the damn play?

Answer #5

How about you disregard these “summaries” and just read the damn play?

Answer #6

That was a bit long, let me summarize:

They kill themselves - the end.

Answer #7

this is actually a really great play if you ever take the time to read it. and if this is for school, i highly suggest you read it yourself. i know from experience, questions your teacher may ask you are detailed, and not in the summaries.

Answer #8

watch the movie!!

Leo Decapreo(sp?) ((you know - the guy who played Jack in Titanic) plays Romeo. & some attractive girl plays Juliet.

it’s a good (& newer aged) version of it all.
