Answer #1

Well, “pre-menstrual symptoms” imply that PMS kinda gets you ready, so to speak, for your period. Acts as a warning sign as well…

Answer #2

It has to do with changes in the endocrine system, which produces hormones that control the menstrual cycle.

Some women have bad premenstrual symptoms, and some don’t. I believe that has to do with genetics.

Answer #3

It is simply a raising in hormone levels in your body, which happens because you are preparing to menstruate. This can cause headaches, bloating and tenderness in you, as well as the more mental affects, such as moodiness. Some people believe brain chemicals can be slightly affected by your hormones, leading you to feel a bit more ‘down’ during that time, and more stressed.

If you have bad PMS then go and see your doctor, as there are things that can help :) the contraceptive pill, for example, can help eliminate many side effects of PMS in some women.

It is just a natural part of the menstrual cycle. Make sure you look after yourself and just take time to rest and relax a bit if you feel yourself getting stressed out a lot at that time of the month and you will be fine and it will be over before you know it :)
