Freshman Year, any advice?

Hey, I’m going to high school soon, and I really want to make the most of it. I know that I should join clubs/teams and make friends, that’s self-explanatory, but if anyone has any suggestions, I’ld love to know. Things like how to best make friends, keep up with classes…anything is great. Thanks for sharing!

You just have to try to be a good person. There are ways to make a ton of friends who end up meaning nothing by graduation or you can graduate and have that group of friends who you know you were true to. Be honest… don’t tell all your personal business. Never talk about anyone you want to keep as a friend behind their back. Never not bad things… don’t talk about the good even. If people ask questions you can answer if appropriate but don’t offer up their personal info. Also most rumors get started when you share something about yourself to someone. Never let anything about yourself out to anyone you can’t trust.

And as silly as this sounds do all your homework lol. Don’t slack off because what you do frosh year all the way til senior year counts towards college. What kind of college you get into helps with what kind of job. Just try hard. Also don’t stress too much.

Don’t worry about drinking or doing things you aren’t okay with because others are doing it or what not. When you are ready you’ll know.

Also have fun still. Roll down hills on fun spring days (I still do this and don’t plan to stop- I’m 22 haha). Make snow angels and snow men. Do crazy stuff to have fun! It will keep you stress free and trust me sometimes the stress can get the best of you in high school. It’s a hard time sometimes. Anytime things got hard for me I went to the park and just went swinging for a while because it’s so carefree and fun.

And of course- joining clubs is always good. The ones during school like choir if it’s a class or yearbook or journalism if it’s a class are always fun because you have to be there anyway haha.

dont be a sl*t & yu’ll be good. dont worry about being “too immature” be yourself. everyone is too immature their freshman year, I dont blame em but just have fun, & dont mess up in your classes.

All I can say is good luck! I’m a senior and I’m sooo happy to be done! If you don’t have friends in high school and have fun with them, you’ll be in for a world of sadness. ‘08 Rulz!

I’m glad my Freshman Year is almost OVER. lol. My advice is to stay quiet this first year. Don’t start rumors, don’t be obnoxious, and don’t try to get in anybody’s way. This will assure your acceptance in the last 3 years. Plus, you won’t have any enemies! Do good in school, get good grades, blah blah blah. Try classes, or subjects your interested in now that way later you have more scheduling for classes geared toward your college major. and…that’s all I gotta say

Answer #5

You will spend the next four years of your life in High School so… make the most out of it. Seriously, there will be times when you would want to quit, drop out, or whatever you want to call it, but c’mon… before you do anything sit down and have a talk with yourself. High School is not that bad, no matter what anyone says. Be yourself, study hard, get involved with the right people, and you will do great! Four years might seem like a long time, but those four years will fly by. If you can, try to take honor or AP classes. AP classes can transfer over as college credit so make sure you talk with your advisor.

Answer #6

Ok, biggest thing is: BE YOURSELF! if you don’t, high school will not be enjoyable one bit so do that be very friendly and talk to people you’ve never talked to before you never know who’ll you’ll end up being friends with seriously, if you’re going to do something bad, be VERY VERY careful cover up all evidence. just pay attention in class, it WILL pay off. I’m almost a junior, and if I would have been careful about all the bad things I was into the past 2 years, things would be a lot easier. so be careful, have fun:) good luck!
